Prisca Peonia is not wasting any time when it comes to entrepreneurship. She launched her brand Peonia Imperium three years ago and has been aiming for success ever since. Managing just over five different types of businesses under her enterprise Peonia Imperium, she sure knows how to keep busy. From providing one on one coaching to future entrepreneurs to managing properties for long term and short-term rental and to social media consulting, Prisca never has a dull day. Her newest project? Fitness Babe; a brand new perspective on women working out. She’s a young entrepreneur with a vision to take over the world. This week, we decided to interview her to get to know what she’s been up to and what inspires her to keep going.

Dwimcity: Can you tell me about what a regular workday is for you? What do you do on a daily basis?

Prisca: I do so many different things that there’s nothing really regular in my day. My workday really depends on the period. Right now, I’m preparing for the holiday season. This particular period is going to be a lot more focused on particular businesses that I manage more then others. I have multiple enterprises going on at the same time. The one that I’m preparing for this winter that’s coming up is for Fitness Babe. I’m preparing campaigns, answering e-mails and making sure there’s enough supplies. I also check in with my advertising team and marketing team who come up with different concepts. I’m also trying to get collaborations with different organisations so we have a lot of meetings about what they do and how they can help with the branding. Every three months my schedule changes, so you can say it’s pretty seasonal.

dwimcity: What are some of the challenges you face on a daily basis and how do you overcome them?

Prisca: The main challenge that I have is that the day is 24 hours (LOL). It’s very daunting to tackle so many tasks at the same time. Organisation is my main key. I use Trello for everything. It’s an organisation app and you can add teams and delegate certain tasks so it’s a great tool when it comes to organizing my day. I use that a lot so I can make sure that I do everything that needs to be done is done and what needs or can be delegated is also done.

dwimcity: And what do you usually do when you’re stressed?

Prisca: I workout. I’m not in shape, but I workout when I’m stressed. It’s a good way to release all the toxins in your body and get the endorphins that you need. It’s necessary. That’s why my new company Fitness Babe is so great because it’s not just about looking great, it’s about feeling great. You can just use the fitness brands to work out and relieve stress, even it’s just for 10-15 minutes, it’s a great workout.

dwimcity: What inspired you to go into this business?

Prisca: What inspired me is my need for freedom. Freedom is very important to me and I just realized that you can’t do what you want unless you have financial stability. And I find that working for someone is great because you can contribute to a great organization, but then having your own thing gives you that extra step of freedom and you can really do whatever you want. Off course for the first 5 to 10 years it might be a lot of work to put on. But the middle and end part can be much more freeing and you can do what you want and even invest in people as well.

dwimcity: So, for you it’s really all about being your own boss and not having anyone to report to?

Prisca: Well you report to your customers. You report to someone different when you’re in business. It’s more of you do what you love and there are no conditions to what it is you’re doing. But you do have a boss. Your boss is every single customer that you have.

dwimcity: What is your biggest accomplishment in your business? What’s one thing that you are most proud of?

Prisca: My biggest accomplishment is not out yet. It’s something that’s still cooking in the kitchen but almost ready (LOL). It’s my add campaign, Fitness Babe. I find that the fitness industry has one direction: tall blond girls that are pretty and fit who are promoting equipment. But my add campaign is all about diversity. Diversity in body sizes. Diversity in skin colors.  You have all types of different women using the product. We also have disable women who use the product. A lot of people forget that disable people do need to workout as well. This is my biggest accomplishment so far: to have all these different women come together and work on this project.

dwimcity: Do you have any regrets or is there anything you wish you would have done differently?

Prisca: I think the biggest mistake that everybody makes when they go in business is that you try to do everything yourself. You can’t physically do everything yourself. You need to have a team of people around you. People that you trust and who are as passionate as you are. So, something that I would have done differently is selecting my team much sooner. It changed my life and that’s why I’m so grateful to have the people that I do around me. I’m sure that if I had selected them much sooner my business would be at a different level right now. But better late then never as they say.

dwimcity: A part of DwimCity is the focus on women entrepreneurs. We know that women entrepreneurs are very limited compared to men and that’s why we focus on the success and struggles that women entrepreneurs face. Can you tell me what it’s like to be a women entrepreneur and what are some of the challenges you face as a woman in the business world?

Prisca: I find that the government and the programs that they have, they focus on women a lot. But when you hit the ground running, this is when you see the real difference between men and women. One of my main challenges is that I’m often not taken seriously. Especially since I’m in my early twenties, I’m being told that I have no experience. This is the difficulty that I sometimes have especially when I’m trying to get a partnership. But that’s just one side. The other side is that I find in Quebec it’s great because they do help women entrepreneurs a lot. The government recognizes the difficulty of being a woman entrepreneur so they offer a lot of help, which I find really admirable. Because we do bring a lot to the table.

dwimcity: Where do you see your business going in the next 5 years?

Prisca: My main goal is to add products to my fitness line. I want to put the focus on that and on women in fitness. I want to take it international. I want to bring awareness in the world about women and diversity. I find that it’s something that our world really needs and I want to be part of the people who bring it there.
