With the weather getting colder and fall slowly settling upon us, it’s the perfect time to start a new TV series on Netflix. Cold weather outside, staying indoors sipping on hot chocolate (or tea), cuddled under a mountain of covers and watching Netflix, now that’s what I call a perfect day! Honestly, is there nothing better than Netflix & Chill? Not in my book! Here’s a list of shows on Netflix that if you’re not already watching, you need to start now!
Definitely makes the top of the list because honestly, it’s one of the best shows out there. The fact that it’s based on true events makes it even better! Drugs, crime, love, power, this show has it all! If you want to know everything about Pablo Escobar and how it all started, then start watching Narcos!
Making a murderer
Another great show based on true events. This show follows the life of Stephen Avery and how he was wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn’t do. The show is filmed as a documentary and reflects the US legal system and how being in the wrong place at the wrong time can have severe consequences. Season 2 is set to start soon so make sure to catch up on Season 1 if you haven’t already.
If you read any of the Archie comics growing up then you will fall in love with this show. Following Archie and the whole gang, this show takes place in Riverdale where things are not what they seem. Much more dark then the comic books, the show revolves around love, friendship, family and death. It’s very twisted compared to the comics but follows real topics that our new generation faces. As the show progresses you’ll fall in love with the characters you grew up reading.
13 reasons why
This show has made several controversies since it released its first season last year. Revolving around a very sensitive topic, teen suicide, the show has had a lot of mixed reviews. Following the aftermath of Hannah Baker’s suicide, the show reveals everything that led her to take her own life. Although the show is great because it finally revolves around a topic that we don’t often hear about, the show did receive some mixed reviews saying that it’s somehow glamorizing teen suicide. Netflix did at one point decide to not air season 2 with all the negative reviews, but they stood their ground and have finally released it. I’ll be honest, it’s a hard show to watch, but definitely, something that everyone needs to see.
Set in the 80’s, the show follows a boy who gets kidnapped and his friends and family who do everything they can to find him. What they will encounter on their journey to bring him home is what makes the show: confidential government information and supernatural events. The friendship between the group of friends and the 80’s soundtrack will have you hooked.
If you love Game of Thrones then you will love Reign. Filled with as much drama and political corruption, Reign checks all the boxes when it comes to being a great TV series. Based on the true story of Mary Queen of Scots, the show follows how she got her throne and everything she had to go through to keep it. Definitely one of my favorite series right after GOT.
