Yoga has quickly become a very popular sport. It’s the perfect balance between meditating and physical activity. Montreal has some great yoga studios to offer. However, what’s become really popular during the summer time is outdoor yoga. Many cities and parcs within Montreal and the surrounding areas are offering free outdoor yoga to inspire and encourage people to take on this healthy activity. One of the most popular areas that has taken Montreal by storm with their outdoor yoga is hosted by Pop Spirit. This year, their outdoor yoga takes place in Ahuntsic near Gouin Park. Want information on all the details of the event? See below for all the 4-1-1 on the outdoor yoga that is taking place until September 1st!
Where is it taking place?
Parcours Gouin: 10905 rue Basile-Routhier. At the corner of avenue Park and Stanley
When does it take place?
Every Tuesday in August from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and every Sunday until September 1st from 10:30 to 11:30 AM
Do they still do yoga when it rains?
Classes are cancelled only if there are thunderstorms.
How much does it cost?
Big fat ZERO! The classes are completely free to promote the park and encourage people to do yoga.
Do I have to be an expert in yoga to attend the classes?
Absolutely not! Whether it’s your first time doing yoga, your 10th time or hundred, the class is for all levels. Follow the teacher and go at your own rythme. No one is judging!
Do I have to register?
Nope! Just make sure to look at the schedule and the address and show up if you want. There is absolutely no registration!
Do I have to bring my own yoga mat?
Yes! They do not have some on site, so it’s important that you bring your own yoga mat unless you want to do it on the grass (which we strongly suggest against).
What else should I bring?
- Comfortable workout clothes (make sure to come already dressed since there is not spot to change there).
- Bottle of water
- Towel
- Anything else you would bring during a workout
Is there parking near by?
The street does offer parking, but there is no actual parking on the site. Make sure to arrive early to plan ahead since the streets do tend to fill out during their yoga days.
